This approximately 5k course is flat and fast\, although the scenery is so beautiful you and your burro may choose to simply mosey and enjoy for as long as possible. The Burro Derby will begin at 10:30am for registered participants.\n\nStarting at 11am\, join us on the northeast side of Prospector Park for all things Parks & Rec and burros! There will be games\, crafts\, and activities for families to enjoy. There might even be a chance to mingle with some of the friendlier burros who participated in the race! We are also hosting our February Concert in the Park\, starting at 12:30pm\, and featuring Reign N Country! The concert will go until 2pm\, so make sure to pack your blankets or lawn chairs and enjoy some live music in the park! DESCRIPTION:See a recreation of a Civil War battle\, tour North and South encampments\, and a Native American battle reenactment from local Apache reenactors. In between battles\, come check out an authentic 1860s gold mining town and watch a live blacksmithing demonstration! \nOur annual “Civil War days” event is coming up! Learn some history about the Civil War Western theater and watch Civil War battle reenactments. We also have an Indian war reenactment involving local Apache tribal reenactors. \nThere will be North and South camp setups so come see how they lived and slept during the war! There will be black powder rifle demonstrations on how they work and how they were loaded\, and of course tour this authentic old west ghost town with 16 buildings and the infamous hanging tree that started in 1863\, watch a blacksmith demonstration and let us teach you how to pan for gold! \nWe will also have a food vendor on site! \n9 AM to 5 PM on January 31\, 2026\, and February 1\, 2026. \nThe event comes with the price of general admission\, which can be purchased online here. Tickets can also be purchased at the door.

DESCRIPTION:This beautiful program is designed to start with a famous Arizona sunset draping gracefully over the Superstition Mountains\, and end under the light of the full moon.\n\nThe 1.5-mile trail features some rocky\, rough terrain but with little elevation gain. It is a ranger-guided hike focusing on the aesthetic\, while offering opportunities to stop and interpret what you see on the trail. To reduce impact\, ensure safety\, and provide a more intimate\, personalized experience\, there will be a guest limit. Register online up two days before the event for $10 per person (ages 10 and up welcome). Each event is limited to 40 total registrants. No pets please.\n\nBring good shoes\, water\, and a small flashlight. The event is weather permitting. In the case of cancellation\, you will be notified via email\, and your fees will be refunded within a few days. Please allow a week or so for the refund to appear on your bank notes. Meet in the Palo Verde Day Use area. DESCRIPTION:Off-Highway Vehicle adventure at Alamo Lake State Park (Maggie’s Wash and McGuffy Cabin)! \nGet ready for an exhilarating adventure as you cross the stunning upper wash at the eastern edge of Alamo Lake and glide past the iconic “Bus Stop” into the enchanting Maggie’s Wash\, a breathtaking slot canyon that offers a thrilling experience for riders! Registration is required for this event; see registration information below. \nExplore two picturesque side hiking slot canyons\, one on the west side just past the entrance\, and another on the east side further up. Both are easy hikes filled with gorgeous scenery\, so take the time to enjoy one or both! As you reach the canyon’s peak\, prepare for amazing views on your way back down. \nNext\, head to the Deer Lodge Shelter for lunch (not provided) with spectacular views of Alamo Lake. From there\, make your way to McGuffey’s Cabin\, a historic spot with charming antique furnishings. Don’t miss the short trek to the nearby waterfall and the captivating petroglyphs etched into the north wall. \nFinally\, return by retracing your steps past the “Bus Stop” and crossing back over the wash to Alamo Lake State Park\, filled with unforgettable memories of your adventurous day! \nATTENTION RIDERS: \nWe will stage at Alamo Lake State Park Campground C. SUMMARY:First Day Hike – Oracle State Park
DESCRIPTION:Come and decompress from all the holiday hustle and bustle with scenic views\, crisp clean air\, and desert landscapes. Oracle State Park will be doing a ranger-led hike along the beautiful Nature Trail Loop. This trail is approximately 1.5 miles long this trail ranges from easy to moderate\, and has some elevation changes along the way. On the trail you will encounter rocks\, loose sand\, and gravel. There are some steep and narrow inclines and declines with steps along the way as well. \nWe will make some stops along the way to take in the scenic views\, listen and look for wildlife along the trail and at the parks wildlife blind and watering hole\, and enjoy the peace and quiet Oracle State Park has to offer. Make sure to bring a camera\, binoculars\, plenty of water\, sunscreen\, a hat\, appropriate clothing\, and shoes. We will start at the Historical Kannally Ranch House patio and make our way to the Nature Trail. \nAs part of the celebration of America’s 250th anniversary\, all First Day Hikes will be offered with no fee!
