Valley Forge Diorama

April 14 @ 10:00 am - May 25 @ 4:00 pm

The Saguaro Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) is proud to share a remarkable handmade diorama depicting Valley Forge, on loan for public display at HD SOUTH, Home of the Gilbert Historical Museum. This intricate, handcrafted scene honors the endurance, sacrifice, and unity of those who fought for America’s independence—and stands as a tribute to the creativity and collaboration of local DAR members and their families. The project began when DAR member Vergie McDavid and her daughter discovered a box of Revolutionary War soldiers in a thrift store. With the help of fellow members and family, those small figures were transformed into a vivid representation of the harsh winter encampment at Valley Forge. The diorama captures the early struggles at Valley Forge—when soldiers endured bitter cold and hunger—and highlights the vital support of the Oneida Nation, who brought corn and supplies to help sustain the Continental Army. It serves as a powerful reminder that the founding of our nation was the result of many peoples and cultures working together in hope of a better life.

Open Tuesday through Saturday 10am to 4pm. Please be advised this is a ticketed event.
